Windy Weekend

Veronika, my old roomate from Hawaii, came down to visit me for a weekend. It was so wonderful to see her. Everything around me was so new and unfamiliar so it was a real comfort to have someone familiar around to put all my senses at ease. She now lives in Denmark, so while it was a bit of a jump she didn't have to go half way around the world to visit.

Our other roomate, Letitia, is getting married in March, when I'll be in Israel. But Veronika will be there so it really felt like I was still in the loop as we talked about the wedding and all that stuff.

So the first thing V and did was to go out and have a nice dinner. It was late so we picked a place nearby. It was not Spanish but French cuisine, but it was a great meal. We tried to order something unfamiliar for dessert but it ended up being cream puffs. Not that we were complaining, it just wasn't something new.

The next day we had planned to visit a few parks and hike all over the place, but the winds were out of control. We just ventured around looking for a place to get a nice breakfast and we kept getting blown away. We ducked into a little place and rethought our plans. We ended up at the aquarium.

It was really cool, they had a variety of sea horses, which I've never seen before. They are so small, it was hard to get a good pic. And the eels looked like they had skull tattoos on their backs. Also saw a guitar shark and made me think of my roomate Christine who plays the base. Saw Dory and Nemo in the same tank and they even had a humu. I guess they have them in the mediterranean?

That night we had a nice dinner again, then walked all over the area checking out the historic Roman wall and all kinds of stuff.

Sunday we were beat but checked out the historic museum which has Roman ruins displayed. They did an archeological dig and then put the museum around it. Its pretty awesome. We could see the laundry area, then the fish market and then the wine making area. It was pretty cool to see it first hand. Then we went to the Chocolate Musuem. It was ok but they closed early and kicked us out.

So we cruized around town and then headed to the airport bus stop. It was like a touch of home having her here, and we made the most of our short time together keeping busy checking things out. It was fun.
