School

I used to have dreams that I was back in school. I'd wake up and wonder why I was dreaming of being in school still when I am so grown up. (hahaha) But today I remembered that season of those dreams and thought maybe it had something to do with me working in a school. I never thought I'd work in a school again.

I am teaching year one, 5 and 6 year olds. They are so funny. Sometimes I think they are more grown up than they really are because they have such strong personalities. But in reality they are so young to everything. But that's also what makes them so amazing and cute!

One student drew a picture of a rocket. I asked him what color it was and he said it was made up of all colors. So I asked if it had rainbows on it and he said yes. Then I pointed to where the fire comes out and asked if that was fire and he said no, rainbows come out of there. I thought that was pretty cool.

During play time one of the boys came up to me and boldly told me he loved me. This is a student that I don't talk to much. My relationship with him mainly consists of comments like, pull up your pants and keep up in line. When he told me this I was shocked, I told him thank you and I loved him too and he gave me a big hug. Back in class, about a half hour later, he told me again he loved me. This time, it was a little awkward. I was like, ok thanks! The other day he said it again. As they were lining up at the end of the day, he shouted out amongst all the kids around him, 'Ms. Meskin, I love you.' Again, I responded with, 'Thank you -----,' and continued on with getting everyone together. Its nice, but a little uncomfortable.

They are funny little people, but I am enjoying it.

That's the greatest thing about kids. They let you see through their eyes and the possibilities are endless in their world.
