First Rugby Match

Well we had our first women's rugby match last weekend. I didn't have much of a clue as to what I was doing but I sure did have fun. Oh and we won both the matches we played so that made it really fun.

Rugby has been such a blessing to my life. I go twice a week and get such a good workout my body is tired and my brain just doesn't work at all by the end of the night. I love exerting myself to the point of being total cabbage. Its such peace to my soul. My mind and thoughts are finally silent.

Yes, it is a challenge to turn my brain off sometimes so this is quite effective.

Of course I've gotten my share of bruises and hits but we mainly play touch and the boys who know how to play don't beat us girls up too much. Its the new guys that dunno what they are doing. But in the match against the girls things go so slow its not too much of an issue.

We played against the Alexandria Women's team, then the American University of Cairo Women's team. The matches were short but I didn't mind because I was tired and glad the game was done. It was like only 20min max.

There are a few girls who are really good. I got tagged by this one girl, who pushed me really hard and I almost fell over on my face. I haven't been shoved liked that ever and I was shocked at what came out of my mouth. Before I could turn around and face her I said "You B----h!!!"

I looked at her and she said the same to me but not as loud. The game went on and after I cooled off I felt bad. After all it wasn't very sportsman like. But I didn't know who I said it to by that time.

I looked at one of the girls and asked her if it was her I had said that too and then apologized. She smiled and we shook hands and played on. It was a really good day. I still have so much to learn but I love the game.

At the end of the day there was even sprinkles of rain and a rainbow, which later became a double rainbow. I told my friends it was a sign and a wonder because these things rarely happen here.

Here is a shot of all the girls who played. My team, Cairo Rugby Club is on the left. In the middle is American University of Cairo, and Alexandria is on the right.
