Breaking News: He's gone! Mubarak is gone and there is rejoicing. This is truly a significant day for the world.
I see God in this! I believe God loves to bring FREEDOM! He hates injustice and bloodshed. The people toppled a government through peaceful expression and continual demand.
Remind you of a Bible story? The woman who kept asking the Judge for justice and he finally gave it to her because she kept asking.
I have not heard much from the Christian community. What I have heard were reports that this a Muslim religious thing and they always riot. Or that they heard news reports that Muslims were attacking Christians in the midst of this, or the Muslim Brotherhood is going to take over and radicalize the nation.
None of these things are true.
There was no rioting. The people were peacefully demonstrating and protesting. It was not violent. The violence that you have seen, on and off, has been provoked by the government. This is truly historical and a real peaceful movement. If you don't agree or understand fully, I can specify and explain details in the moments where there was violence.
Another point to this event is that it is NOT a religious issue. This is a secular government in a country that is mostly Muslim. Christians make up 10% of the population. I have read Christian articles, from the US, that are making this all about Islam and the Muslim Brotherhood. It is not about that. If anything Muslims and Christians are standing together as brothers against a cruel and destructive regime. Specifically the Muslim Brotherhood are not leading this nor have they positioned themselves to lead anything at present.
The government in Egypt should be held to account for human rights violations. I dont know about that in the future. I heard Mubaraks Swiss banks have been frozen, so we will see what is in store for him.
I do believe as a Christian, God is blessing this nation. He loves Arabs. He loved Ismael and blessed him to become a nation. He says in Isaiah 19, blessed be Egypt my people. God wants to provide for the poor, the orphaned, the widowed and oppressed. He cares.
What is happening in Egypt, the other side of the world, will affect America in a huge way. I don't know how exactly right now but we need to watch and see. Egypt is a key nation when it comes influencing the Middle East. Many ME countries would love to influence the region through Egypt.
Also Egypt has kept things in the region peaceful with Israel in a sense because of its relationship with the US. If things change in Egypt things could break out in the whole region. Some of that has already happened with Yemen, Iraq, Palestine and so on.
Even more so whatever happens in the ME region in the future and how that affects Israel will affect us. It is important to pray and watch. I wish I knew more about these things and could do more.
God works and often speaks through events big and small. What is the Lord saying to the world through this? I hear him but I wonder who else in America besides the media does.
For a long time I thought Egypt and the Middle East was just something I was drawn to and other people could live without ever considering this region. But after the last few weeks I believe the world needs to look at this region and stop ignoring it. Not everyone needs to go there, but obviously we need to pay attention and pray.
Turn your ear to Him and soften your hearts, these days are significant.
