Hanauma Bay Reef and Red Sea Reef

The surf was small and the wind was up today so my friend and I went to Hanauma Bay to go for a swim. It was nice to be there as I hadn't gone swimming there since I was really young. It is a fish sanctuary so its one of the places tourists go to to see lots of fish.

The reef has been damaged over the years and it takes a long time for reefs to grow back. There are a lot of fish there but the reef is so damaged and I never realized how bad it was. They are trying so hard to maintain the fish and the reef that they require people to watch an 8 minute video before they go swimming.

It was wonderful to get in the water and see the fish, but yeah the reef didn't look so good.

Its pretty sad but this is what most of the reefs on Oahu look like, this is a shot from Hanauma Bay.

This is what the reefs look like at Dahab in the Red Sea. Its amazing.
