I went to the mall today to try to find some new clothes. I only have what I left the US with almost four months ago, four pairs of pants, two sweaters and 6 shirts or so. Since I've been here I've bought three shirts and two skirts and one scarf. That still leaves me with very little to work with in this heat.
The weather is getting hotter and hotter everyday and no matter where I go I end up sweaty after ten minutes. I can be walking or even riding in a taxi. There is no escaping the heat.
This summer is going to be a broiler and not only that but Ramadan hits in August this year. The days will not only be hot but they will be extra long with the sun setting about 9pm. =o Should make for hot horrible weather and a lot of edgy muslims around.
So at the mall today, I only saw shirts that were thick or a mix of polyester. I asked my friend why would Egyptians wear polyester ever? They live in the desert, and its hot!!! She, being Egyptian, just shook her head and said she didn't know, this is just what they do. Apparently there are a lot of things like that, here
So I need to get to a decent mall and shop this weekend. I need a pair of modest shorts, a few skirts, a pair of light slacks and a few tops. Basically a whole new wardrobe. :(
I've had dreams about my clothes stored away in Florida, but there is no way to get to them. Things get lost in the mail here and its just not worth it. Its easier to just buy new stuff. Without polyester of course.
